A lot of my songwriting process is driven by following subconscious impulses, and “Dream Dust” was no exception. Just like the title implies, the lyrics felt like a dream that moved through me without any judgement or need to seek out meaning. If I were to go deep into self-analysis I could tell you what I was trying to tell myself, but I’d rather leave the interpretation as open-ended as I can. This song isn’t just for me, it’s for you too. I’ll tell you one thing though, I’ll live and die by the words “a tiger will not be tamed.” Oh, and sex… there’s definitely sex in this song.
lyrics
Artifice of the body
Turned again, just the same
I could let you be part of me
A tiger will not be tamed
Beauty break
the love we make
Oh, how you terrify me!
Oh, won’t you sacrifice me?
Hold the stone to be fearless.
Smile a spell at the sky.
Rest on hope when it’s all a mess.
Keep the spark in your eye.
Turn the key,
the dead will sing
Oh, how you terrify me!
Oh, won’t you sacrifice me?
We only want what we need
Give up the fear to be free
