When I wrote this song, I was feeling stuck in my creativity and not really knowing how to move forward. I was having trouble imagining what came next, but I knew I just needed to finish what I’d started. Ironically enough, the first draft of this song was finished back in 2016. I was exploring a more R&B and psychedelic sound at the time, and some of that definitely survived in the final recording.
This song recognizes that often, things must end in order for new things to begin. And often, we get so focused on the end that we lose sight of all the majesty of the moment and of the moments to follow.

lyrics
I take a breath
I take the wind in
Counting my fears on every finger
I must confess
I have been useless
Wasting my years; not getting younger
I’ve fallen
Surrendered
Can’t get my eyes in focus
The vision is centered
right at the end of sequence
I am a whisper of the past now
I should be dead
I catch a glimpse of something moving
out of my head
and into the water
I’ve fallen
Surrendered
Can’t get my eyes in focus
The vision is centered
right at the end of sequence
I’ve fallen
Surrendered
Can’t get my eyes in focus
The vision is centered
right at the end of sequence
