about
'Liquid' is a documentation of embracing one's other-ness. A heavy, electronic shuffle-beat and androgynous vocals drive the science fiction inspired story of kindred aliens being discovered and connection formed. The song describes a vision of hope rising out of fear. In a time of disconnection, uncertainty, and isolation Waterstrider aims to reassure others (and themself) that they are not alone.
lyrics
Now I know I'm not alone
for you and I are ships
that sail the oceans
upside down
Leave all of your sense behind
to follow your design,
your prophecy,
your disillusion
Drink up all the water
to murder the mother and the father
My world is a mess
but you can offer me a place in yours
Down
Down we descend
into the depths,
don't be afraid to let go
Eat
Eat of the fruit,
let it remove the ego
From below we rise above
This is the motion of our wings
a-glisten with this liquid
Stealing fire we burn brighter
to ignite the pleasure,
never ceasing,
as we push towards our own end
We make love forever
and fly from the silver cords we severed
I'll never believe it could be better
than we made it to be
Down
Down we descend
into the depths,
don't be afraid to let go
Eat
Eat of the fruit,
let it remove the ego
First
First we create,
then we destroy
Now we must break the cycle
Please teach me to live a new life
We could have all of the best of it
the best of it
Just abandon all your fears and leave behind your sense
Gather 'round my friends and hold the silence in your breath
Hum the tremor of the earth until there's nothing left
This could all be ours
Down
Down we descend
into the depths,
don't be afraid to let go
Eat
Eat of the fruit,
let it remove the ego
First
First we create,
then we destroy
Now we must break the cycle
Please teach me to live a new life
