“Consume You” is an examination of the evolution of that first spark of romantic and sexual connection into painful codependent relationship. I was inspired by the myth of Ragnarok and imagining how at the end of the world Fenrir is said to open his mouth so wide that he consumes the world and everything in it. Somehow, this felt like a fitting metaphor for the often all-consuming nature of romantic relationships.
lyrics
Step no further from me
I don’t owe you nothing
I could use your company
Fear will feed the hungry
It’s all for you
’til I consume you
From these open moments,
pressing forward progress
We will split and divide
Eat the sun and moonlight
It’s all for you
’til I consume you
I don’t need it, no
I won’t fear it, no
Just keep breathing now
I don’t need it
I won’t fear it
Just keep breathing
