I've been trying to record this cover of FKA Twigs' song "Water Me" for a number of years now. After a few failed attempts, and a number of live intimate acoustic performances of it, I finally met Patrick Aguirre who brought a fresh approach to the production on the track.

To me, this song is a reflection on self-worth and that struggle to maintain one's individuality within a romantic relationship. Personally, it's a reflection on my own experiences with codependence and loss of self. In the final climax of the song, I imagine it as a reclaiming of one's power--a reframing of the lyrics as that of triumph.

..and also a bit of a "fuck you" to the patriarchy.
