“Sublimate” is the song I’m most proud of at this point in my life. That’s not an easy thing to say, but it’s the truth. It’s the most naked and vulnerable I’ve ever allowed myself to be lyrically. The recording process was natural and free of judgement thanks to a flow state that St. Francis Hotel and I were able to enter collectively when I visited their London based studio in the late spring of 2018. I had never cried to my own music before, but as I flew over clouds on my way back to the US while listening to the demo, I was overwhelmed by the beautiful imperfectness of life. All the sublime moments, both enthralling and horrific, seemed to coalesce into one perfect internal emotional burst. It felt like the walls had crumbled. That was the beginning of the eye-opening period of awakening that resulted in these songs and those that will follow.
Thanks for listening and supporting my journey. -nate
lyrics
Sleep now,
naked in the sun
Barebones
Now no harm will come
Open
Mercy set me free
Burden
of my Memories
Slow down
Be wise
Don’t strain to shut your eyes
You’ve lost control
This heaviness you hold
Laid the cards a thousand times
Turning over in my mind
Fictions keep me in my place
Desire, I burn and sublimate
Slow down
Be wise
Don’t strain to shut your eyes
You’ve lost control
This heaviness you hold
Violence
Pull me apart at the seams
I am
only awake in my dreams
I’m flying high above you
